Pre-Order Policy
Pre-ordering is a great way to get ahead of upcoming releases, including limited editions, coloured vinyl and special pressings.
At STASH Records, we work with trusted Australian and international suppliers to bring you the latest releases. While we do our best to secure every pre-order, release dates, stock allocations and delivery schedules are sometimes outside our control.
Here's how our pre-orders work and what you can expect.
1. Placing a Pre-Order
- Pre-orders must be paid in full at the time of purchase.
- Once your order is placed, you'll receive an order confirmation.
- Pre-orders are fulfilled on a first-in, first-out basis, subject to the stock we receive.
- Placing a pre-order reserves your position in our order queue but does not guarantee stock availability or delivery on the advertised release date.
We only offer pre-orders for titles we reasonably expect to be able to source through our suppliers.
2. Release Dates & Availability
Release dates are provided by suppliers and record labels; unfortunately these are outside of our control and are subject to change.
While we aim to have pre-orders available as close as possible to their official release dates, delays can occur due to manufacturing, supplier allocations, international shipping or other circumstances outside our control.
Please keep in mind:
- Advertised release dates are estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates, unless we expressly agree otherwise.
- Some releases may arrive after their official release date.
- Limited editions and high-demand titles may be subject to restricted supplier allocations.
- Internationally sourced releases may require additional delivery time.
We'll keep you informed of significant delays or changes affecting your order.
3. Limited Stock & Supplier Allocations
Some releases, particularly limited editions and exclusive pressings, are produced in restricted quantities.
Although we may order sufficient stock to fulfil all customer pre-orders, suppliers sometimes allocate fewer copies than requested.
Where this happens, we'll fulfil orders in the sequence they were received.
If we're unable to fulfil your pre-order, we'll contact you and offer a full refund, or another alternative if you prefer.
If additional stock is expected, we may also offer you the option to wait for the next available allocation.
4. Shipping & Click & Collect
Pre-orders can be shipped within Australia or collected from our Camp Hill store.
Orders containing both pre-order and in-stock items
If your order includes both pre-order and in-stock products, we'll generally hold the entire order until all items are available, then dispatch everything together.
If you'd prefer to receive your in-stock items sooner, we recommend placing a separate order.
Alternatively, please contact us to arrange separate shipping, which may involve additional postage charges.
Shipping
Once your complete order is available, we'll prepare it for dispatch in accordance with our Shipping & Delivery Policy.
You'll receive tracking information when your order is dispatched.
Click & Collect
If you've selected Click & Collect, we'll notify you when your pre-order is ready for collection.
Please wait for this confirmation before visiting the store.
5. Changes to Editions, Colours & Packaging
Record labels and distributors occasionally change release specifications before an album becomes available.
These changes may involve vinyl colours, artwork, packaging, track listings or other edition details.
We make every effort to ensure the product you receive matches the description provided when you placed your order.
If a material change occurs, such as a different vinyl colour or pressing, we'll contact you before supplying the alternative.
You won't be required to accept a materially different product from the one you ordered. Where we cannot supply the agreed product, we'll offer a full refund or another option acceptable to you.
6. Cancellations & Change of Mind
If you wish to cancel a pre-order, please contact us as soon as possible.
We'll consider cancellation requests based on the status of your order and whether we've already committed to purchasing the item from our supplier.
Where a cancellation is accepted as a discretionary change of mind, we may offer an exchange or store credit rather than a refund.
Once we've committed to a supplier order, change-of-mind cancellations may not be accepted.
This does not affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law, including where we cannot supply your order within an agreed or otherwise reasonable timeframe.
7. Significant Delays or Unavailable Releases
Occasionally, a release may be delayed significantly, postponed indefinitely or cancelled by the record label or distributor.
If this happens, we'll contact you with an update and explain the available options.
Depending on the circumstances, these may include:
- Continuing to wait for an updated release date or further stock allocation.
- Selecting an alternative product by agreement.
- Receiving a full refund where the item is unavailable, cannot be supplied within the required timeframe or a refund is otherwise required by law.
If a release is cancelled or we confirm that we're unable to supply your order, we'll arrange a full refund.
We won't substitute another edition or product without your agreement.
8. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items
All pre-orders are covered by our Returns & Refunds Policy and Australian Consumer Law.
If your item arrives faulty, damaged or incorrect, please contact us by email or through our website Contact Form.
We encourage customers to report issues within 14 days of receiving their order, wherever possible. This does not limit your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
9. Your Australian Consumer Law Rights
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
You may be entitled to a refund, replacement or other remedy where goods are faulty, materially different from their description or cannot be supplied as required by law.
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your statutory consumer rights.
10. Questions About Your Pre-Order?
If you have any questions about an upcoming release, your order status or a possible delay, please contact STASH Records by email or through the Contact Us form on our website.
We're always happy to help and appreciate your patience and support for independent record stores.
